2nd XI Season so far…

PTGCC 2nd XI Season so far

Holyport - draw - Batted first with a good start from Coleman, Bentley, Powell 58 and Godfrey until the batting fell away a little. A good innings from Joe fisher 26 not out – a sign of things to come perhaps. Sadly we could not bowl them out with Morris and Powell taking one a piece and two runouts.

Binfield - Win - On a cold wet day they batted first and were out for 125 thanks to five wickets from Tattersall. Indifferent batting from saw Morris come in at 7 to win the game with a 38.

Wraysbury - Loss -Another indifferent batting display with Bentley first wicket out on 43 we scrambled to 138 thanks to an explosive 37 from W Shaw in the middle order. A good bowling display from Morris 14 overs 3 for 29 could not prevent Wraysbury from winning.

Little Kingshill - Win - One of their openers set off like a train and with numerous dropped chances he got to 66 in no time. Thankfully for us none of the others barely got into double figures. A careful batting display saw us home with overs to spare.

29/May - Match abandoned

Chalfont St Giles - Win - They batted well at the start of their innings and we all thought we were in for a long afternoon. However batsmen 5-11 top scored with 5. Easy win with Tattersall top scoring with 72 assisted by Bond 37*

Little Marlow - Win - A good start for Little Marlow with Les their wicket keeper, batting like we have never seen before – 72. However their numbers 5-11 only managed 21 between them. A good opening partnership 103 between A Vincent (65) and Bentley (35) set the foundation for an easy win.

White Waltham - Win - A steady batting performance throught their line-up saw White Waltham reach 213 for 7. Bond opening the innings for the first time this season scored 75 and the promise we had seen in Fisher produced a 56 batting at 4. A comfortable win off 44 overs.

Taplow - Win - Difficult to write a report for this game. Their top scorer got 12 and they were 60 all out.

Morris 15 overs – 6 maidens 4-25

Daniel 12 overs – 5 maidens 4-21

Bentley 21 not out, C Vincent 26 not out extras 13

Little Kingshill - Win - In a bad tempered game Little Kingshill reached 166 all out off 37 overs. Morris 6-50. A careful start from Penn but Fisher – 46* and C Vincent 45 saw us home off 34 overs.

Great Kingshill – Loss - A difficult day in the field for Penn with few chances. Great Kingshill built a score of 190 thanks to their opener having small 20’s and 30’s partnerships with the first six batsmen to join him.

A poor start from Penn A Vincent (4), Bond (3) and J Fisher (10) all fell before 50 was on the board. C Vincent (28) and R Monnon (28) steadied the ship but when Monnon was caught Graham went without troubling the scorers. Bentley (51) was out soon after and although Morris tried to pick up the pace he was also out going for yet another expansive shot on 17. Eventually all out 25 runs short.

An update to come from Terry at the end of the season...
